Voice Coaching is for everyone, from beginners to professionals, where the starting point is your level, wishes, and needs.

Even very talented and competent singers can feel limited in certain areas in the songs they choose to sing, and might go on stage feeling insecure and unsafe whether the tone, lyrics, or phrase will work or not on the evening. As a professional, you have to deliver evening after evening, and it is untenable if there are days with hoarseness afterwards due to wrong techniques.

Everyone can benefit from tools to handle tough places and what can be done technically so the whole song is sung in a healthy way. As a professional, you do not want to be limited expression-wise by insufficient technique.

Likewise, professional singers, like everyone else, can suddenly begin to experience problems never before encountered. A thorough update of support can be extremely giving.

Tutoring

Among other things, we will look at:

  • Why you have a hard time reaching higher notes
  • Why your “mix” is a problem
  • How you can avoid uncontrolled throat constrictors
  • Why you become hoarse and how to avoid it
  • Why your voice “cracks”
  • Why some parts of a song can be more difficult than others
  • Why there isn’t enough power or too much power in your voice
  • Why you lack air
  • How you can color your sound lighter/darker

To solve the technical problems and challenges we look at the three basic principles, support, the necessary twang and how you avoid jaw tensions.

Additionally, we look at the four mode’s advantages, limitations, and characteristics, as well as sound color which can be changed to become lighter/darker, and effects which are extra means to underline your way of expression.

Support: Diaphragm is controlled by combining three muscle groups, stomach, back, and loins, as well as ribs.

Twang: The epiglottis funnel’s position is important for the degree of twang.

Modes: All use of the voice is separated into four modes, neutral (no metal), curbing (half metal), overdrive (full metal) and  edge (full metal).

Sound color: Positioning the six places in the larynx (epiglottis funnel, raised/lowered larynx, broad/compressed tongue, the shape of the mouth, relaxed/raised palate, open/closed nasal passage) are important for the lighter/darker sound color.

Effects: Intentional vocal breaks, audible air, vibrato, creak, scream, and distortion.

You are guided in the techniques and will make the song sound as you want it in a healthy manner, thereby using the full potential of your voice.

You are always invited to an informal chat about the aspects you want to develop more.
